It is said that Hokoji-temple was built in 651 and it is famous for its beautiful cherry blossoms in spring and colored leaves in fall. Its valuable possessions like a stone tower which was built when a Buddhist memorial service was held, an awful demon mask and 619 pieces of old documents are designated as important cultural assets of Hyogo Prefecture.
